Butcher continues winning streak

Local crafters of fine meats have won another award, this time for their talent in creating a winning recipe for golden bacon.

Mangawhai Meat Shop owners, Dan and Ange Klink, were presented a gold award for their dry-cured streaky bacon at the 100% New Zealand Bacon and Ham Awards formal ceremony held at Westhaven Marina, on July 28.

Another Kaipara butcher, Maungi Meats in Maungaturoto, took away a bronze medal for their middle bacon while Warkworth Butcher, Rob Lees, won the 2022 Supreme Bacon Winner.

The Klinks commented on their facebook page: There’s a few things in life everyone loves, bacon and gold, and on Thursday night we were lucky to be awarded with New Zealand’s best dry-cured streaky bacon’.
