Over 40 artists on Art trail

Mangawhai will come alive as artists open their studios and galleries to the public for the upcoming annual Man-gawhai Art Trail.

Held over two days, the Art Trail coincides this season with the changeover to daylight saving. Enjoy an evening stroll on the beach after viewing artwork by some of our most talented artists and craftspeople – and featuring something for everyone including painting, hand-crafted furniture, jewellery, clothing, sculpture, photography, and pottery.

Over 40 artists will be represented at over 10 different venues, across the region with a group exhibition hosted at Mangawhai's new museum on Moles-worth Drive.

As part of the Art Trail weekend, and to celebrate the decision by Mangawhai Artists Inc to set up an Art Centre in Mangawhai Community Park, there will be two fundraising events. Firstly an Art Tree will be set up adjacent to the new museum where, for a gold coin donation, you can attach a coloured disk (and a message of goodwill) to the tree which will remain on site as a public art piece and an expression of good fortune to the artists of Mangawhai. Also an Art Puzzle will be run over the weekend which will entail entrants (with a gold coin donation) from the public answering a series of questions related to an object of art displayed at some of the venues and an original piece of art has been donated as the winner's prize.

Bring the whole family or a group of friends. Stay the weekend. Mangawhai offers a range of accommodation from campsites to four star luxury lodges complimented by many eateries, restaurants and cafes.

„ Mangawhai Art Trail, Saturday-Sunday, September 27-28, 10am-5pm. Free entry. Studios and galleries marked with signs and flags. Maps available from the Mangawhai Museum, Sail Rock Café, and Mangawhai Information Centre.
