KSA Sports Brief

Senior Netball
Our senior netball club, Otamatea-Ex, will hold their end of season prizegiving at the Sports Complex on Friday October 24 at 5.30pm. All welcome.

Touch
I am helping organise the Whanaunga Touch Tour-nament to be held at the KSA on January 10. This is a fundraiser for the Otamatea marae and descendants from the marae are given first priority to enter. Keen to register a team? Contact me and I will send you the registration form.

Kaiwaka's Summer Touch Module will be on again at the Sports Complex on Sunday afternoons through-out February and March. You can keep up to date with Kaiwaka Touch Module news by liking our fa-cebook page or visiting our website kaiwakasports. co.nz.

Upcoming AGMs
The Otamatea Rugby Club AGM will be held on Tuesday November 11, 7pm at the Sports Complex.
The Rodney/Otamatea JMB AGM will be held on Wednesday November 12, 6.30pm at the Sports Complex.
The Kaiwaka Sports Association AGM will be held on Wednesday November 19, 7.30pm at the Sports Complex.
Anyone interested in becoming involved in any of these groups is encouraged to attend.

Squash
Our Squash Club held their prizegiving last week, congratulations to the winners:
Mens Champion: Phillip Tana; Womans Champion: Mirna Manuell; Junior Champion: Danyon Tana;
Club Spirit: Murray Emson; Personality of the Year: Heath Worsfold; Most Improved: Bruce Leslie.

Fright Night
Fright Night will be held on Saturday November 1, 7.30pm at the Sports Complex. There will be mu-sic, dancing, games, glow items for sale and a lolly scramble, as well as prizes for the scariest costumes – boy, girl and adult. The highlight of the evening for children is taking a walk through the haunted house (aka our rugby changing rooms!) Entry is just $3 – adults and preschoolers are free. A plate of hallow-een-inspired food for the supper table would be ap-preciated.

If anyone has any great ideas on how to make our haunted house extra creepy, you are welcome to join our small committee of decorators. Please contact me, details below.

Fitness Centre
Looking to get into shape before the summer months? Our Fitness Centre is running an 8 week Biggest Loser Challenge, with personal trainer Siob-han Cole. The fee is $20 per week which includes all training and nutrition. Trainings will be two eve-nings per week 7–8pm and classes Mondays through Thursdays. You will need to purchase a Fitness Centre membership from Jaques Four Square prior to the challenge ($90 plus $10 for key) which will give you 24/7 access to the Fitness Centre until May. The Biggest Loser Challenge begins on Monday October 27 and there will be prizes for first, second and third place.

Interested? Simply turn up to the Fitness Centre for registration day on Saturday October 25 at 1pm. For queries, please contact Siobhan on 027 979 1203.

Top of the Rock
Our annual multi-sport event Top of the Rock will be held on Sunday February 8. The event caters for walkers, runners and mountain bikers, both recrea-tional and competitive as there are a range of options. Routes travel through some of Kaiwaka's most scenic countryside – bush, lakes and farmland – and you get the opportunity to climb iconic Baldrock Mountain. To keep up to date with Top of the Rock news please like our facebook page.
