Touch I am helping organise the Whanaunga Touch Tournament to be held at the KSA on January 10. This is a fundraiser for the Otamatea marae and descendants from the marae are given first priority to en-ter. Keen to register a team? Contact me and I will send you the reg-istration form. Kaiwaka's Summer Touch Module will be on again at the Sports Complex on Sunday afternoons throughout February and March. Come along to the Kaiwaka Sports Com-plex on Mondays at 5.30pm. The six week course with Mangawhai's Mary Madden starts on Monday November 10 and costs $78. Or if you would like to join a Fitness Boot Camp, pop in to the Sports Complex on Wednesdays at 5.45pm, just $7 a session. Upcoming AGM The Otamatea Rugby Club AGM will be held on Tuesday Novem-ber 11, 7pm at the Sports Complex. The Rodney/Otamatea JMB AGM will be held on Wednesday No-vember 12, 6.30pm at the Sports Complex. The Kaiwaka Sports Association AGM will be held on Wednesday November 19, 7.30pm at the Sports Complex. Anyone interested in becoming involved in any of these groups is encouraged to attend. Kaipara District sports awards The Silver Fern Farms Kaipara Sports Awards were held in Dar-gaville on Friday evening and sportsmen and women affiliated to our Sports Association featured heavily amongst the winners! Congratu-lations to: • Stephanie Brown, president of our gymnastics club, on winning the Newman Engineering Leadership Award. • Julie Harris, president of our Fitness Centre, on winning the Pacific Motor Group Master Sportsperson of the Year. • Phillip Tana, coach of our squash club, on winning the Kaipara Dis-trict Council Coach of the Year. • Matt Moulds, who plays for our Hawks rugby team, on winning the Silver Fern Farms Sportsman of the Year Award as well as the Supreme Award. • Young sportspeople affiliated to our Association who won an ASB Youth Achievement Award were Rhys Shadbolt (rugby), Cullen Curtis (motorcross) and Ocean Shadbolt (multisports). Top of the rock Our annual multi-sport event Top of the Rock will be held on Sun-day February 8. The event caters for walkers, runners and mountain bikers, both recreational and competitive as there are a range of op-tions. Routes travel through some of Kaiwaka's most scenic countryside – bush, lakes and farmland – and you get the opportunity to climb iconic Baldrock Mountain.
