Buzz in the Bay News briefs from around Waipu and Bream Bay

Ruakaka Civil Defence meeting
Holding a meeting on June 9, 7pm at the Bream Bay Community Support Trust Building, across the road from the Ruakaka police station. This is to introduce new coordinators for the Ruakaka Civil Defence Group. Whangarei District Civil Defence Emergency Management Officer Victoria Randall will also attend.

Wearable Art Awards tickets
Hurry! Tickets are selling fast. The word is out that Art 'n Tartan is coming up and will this year be in the new huge Celtic Barn. We will be the first public event there so get your tickets early, either at the Waipu museum or Eventfinder.

Pizza and beer
McLeod's Pizza Barn at Waipu brew their own range of top notch beers designed perfectly to match their menu and gourmet pizzas. They have Longboarder Lager, Paradise Pale Ale and Great Migration Indian Pale Ale in 500ml bottles. Unlike most start-up breweries Mcleods aren't getting involved in an arms race to see who can pack the most hops into a beer or to see who can be the most 'out there'. Instead they are creating wonderfully balanced beers which can be both sessionable and perfect with a meal. Also available at Liquorland Kensington in Whangarei.

Winter@Waipu
Winter@waipu kicks off again on the June long weekend, as the small Northland village with a unique scottish story makes the most of winter season during June, July and August, starting with Tartan at the Races and finishing with a mid-winter swim. View all the Winter@waipu events at breambay.co.nz.
