Local bands join Fritter Festival line-up

tf (1)The final line up for the Whangarei Fritter Festival to be held on Saturday March 28 at Toll Stadium is filled with local talent: Co-Lab, Legacy, Two Kay and Taylah Barker will be joining Kiwi legend Dave Dobbyn, reggae band 1814, Tahuna Breaks, Tempist Fujit and JPG.

"People want to see the local artists on the stage complimenting those big NZ names so that’s exactly what they’ll get,” says marketing and events manager Rachel O'Gorman from Venues and Events Whangarei.

“These bands have character and are all passionate musicians and they work hard to get themselves out there, you always see them performing at bars, festivals, functions and in the street."

Co Lab has been together for about two years, from humble beginnings busking in the mall to the National Smoke free Rock quest and more recently the X Factor NZ.

Whangarei band Legacy are experts at getting people grooving on the dance floor, playing a mixture of songs to suit all tastes.

Two Kay are a group of talented teenage boys from Whangarei. They first got together for the 2014 Bay of Island Jazz and Blues festival, where they received standing ovations everywhere they played.

Taylah Barker is a singer-songwriter from Kerikeri with a modern blues-soul sound. She has performed at many festivals and also opened for Fly My Pretties on their homeland tour. She is an acoustic performer, but her vocals are distinctly powerful.

They will be supporting Kiwi legend Dave Dobbyn, 1814, Tahuna Breaks, Tempist Fujit and JPG.

n Tickets for the festival are selling fast and are available from eventfinda.co.nz and Forum North Box Office.
