Festival a fitting farewell to Summer

The Mangawhai Wine & Food Festival was an idea created by the Mangawhai Walking Weekend team to provide a fun and relaxing finish to the walker’s day and an opportunity to showcase wonderful local food and wine producers to visitors, with some lively music to finish off the day.

Seven years on this event has been embraced by both the walkers and the wider community and on the last evening of daylight saving is an ideal way to farewell summer.

Set in a beautiful mature olive groove, the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. An extensive food and wine selection includes local award-winning wines from Lochiel Estate, Millers Vineyard and soon-to-be released Te Whai wines, soothing ales from the Sawmill Brewery, local gourmet Olive Oil produces Divinity and Echo Valley, the forever popular Long Flat Bacon Company’s traditional bacon sarnies, Mangawhai Meats BBQ selection, tradition Indian curry, mussel fritters and chowder packed with fresh mussels from the Mussel Kitchen, local Harvest Café with their delicious pork ribs, tasting of NZ and international cheeses from Kaiwaka Cheese, wood fired pizza and treats from Fig’n’Delicious and Nutz and Zippys for coffee and ice cream.

Relax or dance under the olive trees with Room2Groove, their comprehensive musical repertoire includes Jazz and swing classics, 50's rock and roll, blues, 60's soul to chart hits from today. This extremely versatile male and female vocal line-up perform delicious harmonies and multi-talented musicians create an unsurpassed entertainment dynamic. Their lineup includes a very popular brass section to add that extra pizzazz, plenty of entertainment, enjoyment and dancing guaranteed!

In addition to the fabulous music watch energetic Ceroc dancers demonstrating their inspiring dance moves, best described as a fusion of salsa and jive. Expect to be enthralled.

Gather your friends together and make up a party. Tickets $25 per person are available from www.mangawhaiwalkingweekend.co.nz or can be purchased in Mangawhai from Bammas in the village or Mangawhai Books & Gifts in Wood Street.
