Bottle cozy comp hopes to go crazy

 

The Vintry at Matakana is again hosting the Winter Wacky Wine Bottle Cozy Competition.

Led by Matakana’s very own crochet queen Sharleen Greer, organisers are aiming for a bigger and madder event this year hoping to exceed last year’s 60 entries.

While knitters from Mangawhai to Matakana and beyond have the utmost respect for wine at room temperature, they also want to see it well dressed in a fashionable and funky way.

Categories include: Best Knitted, Best Crocheted, Best Local Wine Label or Wine Style Interpretation, People’s Choice Award, and the new Wackiest Original Design.

Entries are now open, so pick up your needles or crochet hooks and get devising. Surf the net for way-out ideas to use up all those spare odds and ends languishing in your sewing basket.

Win one of five awesome prizes from local vineyards worth $250 each. Entry forms and conditions can be downloaded from The Vintry’s website or picked up at the wine bar. Entries close August 2, 5pm.
