Rates installments lowered to four by KDCKaipara District Council rates are now being paid in four equal annual instalments instead of the previous six. The change, introduced from July 1, received strong support through submissions to the Draft Annual Plan and will also help reduce administration costs. It brings Kaipara District Council into line with most other councils throughout the country, including neighbouring Far North and Whangarei districts. The council realises that the change will make rates invoices look significantly larger but explains that ratepayers need to realise that it is the same amount of money being divided by four instead of six. However, Community Engagement Manager, Barbara Ware, accepts that there may be people who find that that the fewer but larger payments cause difficulty. "I would like to invite anyone who wants to arrange the spreading of payments to contact council and make arrangements to do so," she says. Anyone wanting to take advantage of this should contact the Customer Service Team, telephone 0800 727 059 or 09 439 3123. |
