Team fee is $100 and prizemoney up for grabs. Refs supplied. Keen? Please contact me for a team registration form.

Martial arts
Are you or your child keen to join our martial arts classes this year? Black belt instructor Craig Bennetts offers a variety of classes out of our gymnasium for all ages. For more information please visit our website kaiwakasports.co.nz and click on affiliated clubs or phone Craig on 021 152 4466.

Boot camp
Following on from the success of the Biggest Loser Challenge last year, there will be a Fitness Boot Camp at the Sports Complex with trainer Siobhan Cole every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm and Saturday at 7.30am, $7 per session. All welcome.

Cricket
I am thinking about putting on a fun cricket match for the community, probably in March. Maybe the Cockies vs the Blockies? Is there someone out there who would be happy to help me organise it? Please contact me.

Rugby
It may still be the middle of summer, but pre-season training for our Otamatea Hawks is about to start. Their first training will be on Tuesday January 27 at 6pm, and every Tuesday and Thursday after. All players from U14's up are welcome.

Top of the Rock
Is your New Years resolution to exercise more? To participate more in community events? To get out in the countryside more? Entering our Top of the Rock event fits the bill for everything! Routes travel through some of Kaiwaka's most scenic countryside and you can choose from walking, running or biking. Visit kaiwakasports.co.nz and click on Special Events to find the entry form and all the details. Make sure you enter before this Sunday if you want to be in with a chance to win one of our two great earlybird prize draws.

Yulia
We are very excited to announce that internationally renowned singer Yulia will be performing at the Kaiwaka Sports Complex! Russian-born singing sensation Yulia is a classical crossover artist, and performs a fusion of popular contemporary music genres and classical style.

Her first album Into the West (2004) achieved quadruple platinum sales, spent four weeks at number one on the album charts and claimed two Tuis at the New Zealand Music Awards. In 2006 she became the first NZ recording artist to achieve two back to back number one hit albums when her second album, Montage, achieved double platinum sales. In 2010 Yulia won the European Song Competition Grand Prix and Best Nationwide Entertainment.

The concert, Yulia & Friends, will also feature some of our local up-and-coming singers: Jasmine Sampson, Molly Curnow, Mercedes Von Dinklage, Tasha Perrett, Michelle Clark and Olly Knox.

Tickets are only $10 adults and children free, so this is a fabulous opportunity to hear an internationally acclaimed performer in little ol' Kaiwaka! Tickets on sale now at Jaques Four Square, Maungaturoto Four Square, Mangawhai Heads Four Square and Wellsford Sports and Leisure.

The concert will be on Sunday February 15 at 7pm – mark it in your diary!
