Tight and talented say the experts

Hotboxed Treehut are considered the act to keep your eyes on this summer.
A 7-piece roots ensemble from the sweltering jungle of Tamaki Makaurau with a melting pot of cultures and smooth rhythms, this group of uni students have consistently packed venues since their conception.

The band say they are ‘invariably broke’ but full of vim and vigour and want to show the world, or at the very least Mangawhai, what they are made of.

Hotboxed Treehut's sound can be described as predominantly reggae with hip-hop, R&B and rock influences fused into original tracks that speak conscious messages of love, awareness and issues relevant to our local surrounding of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Over the past year they have continued moving from strength to strength. Throughout 2014 the band recorded a debut EP ‘Brighter Future’ with music video released in October.

Cornerstone Roots return with friends
Among the best roots bands in the country, Cornerstone Roots has evolved many times since its humble beginnings and now features Jonathan Crayford on keyboards, Ashley Pirie on drums and Aaron Bush on percussion.

Recent shows have been described as "intense" with their years together giving an edgy yet smooth co-ordination.

Cornerstone Roots pay respect to the colossal world of Jamaican reggae, while confidently bringing their own influences and uplifting messages to the mix. It’s sure to please.

On a double bill, touring friends Meta & The Cornerstones’ music is warm and embodying, immensely addictive, and destined to forever change the dynamics of reggae music. Meta Dia’s unforgettable vocals are complemented by the incomparable sounds of his band The Cornerstones.
