SPECIAL THANKS: The Mangawhai Artists Association present a special flax gift of their own to minister Dianne Hawkins at left. Pictured with her is MAA president Jan Grover, flax weaver Marie Flavell, Jeanette Vickers and Jan Clark.
For the first time the Mangawhai Artists Association has a home to call its own, thanks to the Mangawhai Anglican Church who has gifted its old church building to the group.
Members of the creative group are thrilled they will now have an art centre to permanently display their creativity, run exhibitions, and hold workshops.
It is planned to move the building from its current address in Molesworth Drive to Mangawhai Park.
Funding is needed to relocate the building beginning with a gala art auction on January 26 at 7pm.
An exhibition of all artwork for auction can be viewed at the new museum from January 13, 10am–5pm daily.
Over 45 artists have donated works for the event.
A preview of items for auction can also be seen at www.mangawhaiartists.co.nz.
