The Buzz in the Bay

Surfboard appreciation
The Waipu Cove Fish Fry, held on March 8, is a gathering of positive and like-minded surfers and shapers sharing a day at the beach. The original format of the Fish Fry was based around the Fish surfboard but as the event has evolved and spread throughout the world it has become open to all forms of surfcraft, Fish, Logs, Hulls, Alaias, Handplanes, Mats, the list goes on. The Cove Fish Fry is non-competitive and non-commercial.

Elijah & Lucy storyAwesome fundraisers!
Lucy and Elijah (pictured) along with their friends at Bream Bay College raised over $1,400 for Project Jonah last year. Bake sales, raffles, stalls and mufti days – these guys did it all! The money they raised will make a huge difference to the work Project Jonah do. If bake sales and mufti days aren't your thing, there are easier ways to give – simply text WHALE to 7003 to donate $3 today.

KNZB competition
Keep New Zealand Beautiful has launched for the fifth year its "Wall Worthy" mural competition and hopes to see many entries from all schools throughout New Zealand. The main idea is to get students submitting ideas/designs on what makes their community "Wall Worthy". These could be depictions of local legends, renditions of your award winning pies, a piece of history that your town is famous for or even just a portrait of someone local in the town because it was about time he or she was recognised. Visit knzb.org.nz now!
