One stop health shop for healthy ageingItalian-born, Aus-sie-trained professional naturopath and mas-sage therapist Val Booth now lives in Mangawhai with her Kiwi husband and has been part of the Kakariki clinic team since 2012 gradually ex-panding her client base and her services which now includes Pilates, vi-tamin, mineral and aller-gy testing and advice on the value of herbal medi-cines.
“I’m a one-stop-shop for healthy ageing, pre-ventive medicine and strengthening the body and mind,” says Val. “Having and maintain-ing good health comes down to several factors that include your food regime, exercise, age and all the stresses and strains that life brings be they mental, physical from sports or sprains or even pregnancy. We can’t fix everything but with the right plan to-gether we can make life more enjoyable.” Natural medicines may work quite differ-ently from scientific medicines though, simi-larly it’s a matter of find-ing the correct herbs, supplements, diet and nutrition plan that suits the individual. “Look after yourself today and function well tomorrow,” she adds. Her Pilates sessions too are gaining in pop-ularity. Held on week-day mornings, the small classes of just four or five pupils suit many though Val is happy to work one-on-one of required. Mas-sage sessions run Friday to Monday. Val’s service com-plements the Kakariki Health Shop services which include osteopath Jacquelyn Schirmer and midwife Kate Rankin. Outside of work Val enjoys surfing, walking and swimming but just call for an appointment whether a regular or a visitor. One health stop and practising from Kakariki Health and wellbeing store, Bennetts complex Moir St, Mangawhai. |
