Carnival comes to Celtic town

The Waipu Easter Carnival is a fun-filled family day out with lots to keep the kids and adults entertained while you indulge in delicious food and hunt for bargains.

The Waipu lawn mower racing crew will be out in force, along with local entertainers and great new rides and carnival games to keep you amused for hours.

The carnival has now be-come a major community event for Waipu as well as a fantastic fundraiser for Waipu Primary School.

Among other things, proceeds from the past have helped fund the new adventure play-ground, new sandpit area and surrounds, new computers for the computer room, plants and trees for the school property, sports equipment and resources for all the classrooms.

Over the last two years, a portion of the profits have been set aside to help fund the shelter, which has now evolved into a wonderful multi-purpose room. This is something the school community has hoped for many years and now, and with the carnival's help they are almost there!

New attractions lined up this year include giant water walk-ers, merry-go-round , mini ferris wheel,  petting zoo, the Norwood Kubota BX 25 digger challenge, Segway obstacle course and the Picarrazzi photobooth.

There will be lots of action at the Kidzone with more oldfashioned carnival games where kids can go with just a few coins and have a great time.

But of course all the favourites are back – mini hot rods along with the bouncy castles and the always-popular pony rides.

Don't forget the great big auction, quick fire raffles, crafts, white elephant, second  hand clothes and books.

The Fat Camel are returning this year to cook up delicious kebabs, falafels and pita pockets – and there will be lots of stalls with homemade Russian fudge, toffee apples, delicious cakes, and Waipu's famous homemade preserves.
