Fritter the late summer away

Fritter Fest 2015 crowd-403The Whangarei Fritter Festival is all about enjoying delightful food and wine and stellar New Zealand music with friends and family in Whangarei’s enviable subtropical climate.

The Festival offers a wide range of delicious gourmet fritters created and prepared by top local restaurants and cafes, and the public get to vote for their favourite.

Past menus have included delights such as slow cooked Moroccan lamb, crispy duck with Korean BBQ mayo, prawn bhaji in a fennel batter, and of course the iconic kiwi whitebait fritter.

Compliment the wonderful food with tastings of locally produced fine wine that is showcased at the event.

Popular NZ celebrity chef Chelsea Winter has the honour of judging and awarding the hotly contested Best Fritter trophy.

Enjoy a relaxed day with great music and a feast of fine wines and gourmet fritters from Whangarei and the region's finest local restaurants and wineries but a late summer celebration can only work with homegrown Kiwi music.

This year the feature act brings outstanding sounds from Katchafire, The Jordan Luck Band, Tiki Taane and Hipstamatics with local support from Otium, 5K, The Avenues and the Gold Cloaks.

Soak it all up while you sample delicious food and wine and have fun on the giant water slide. And, don't forget to vote for your favourite fritter!

A festival in the heart of Whangarei – an event not to be missed!
