Mufti-day fundraiser for homeless animalsNow in its eighth year, the annual Mangawhai Beach School SPCA mufti-day was held on Friday September 27. The event was again run by Pippa Meagher (left) with help from Olivia Canton, both from Room 21, who wanted to continue fund raising for homeless animals. The 8-year-old girls recently made a visit to the animals at Mangawhai Helping Paws to get a better understanding of what support is needed – and to get some baby cuddles!
Pupils who wanted to take part and attend school in mufti were ‘fined’ either a $2 coin or a food item or bedding for cats and dogs. The school has a collection box in the office for donated goods which were also welcomed from the wider community. This year the girls decided to split the proceeds between the Whangarei SPCA, Mangawhai Dog Rescue and Mangawhai Helping Paws. Any money was paid directly into their account at the vets. - PHOTO/SUPPLIED |
