Musical comedy returns, tickets limitedSituated between Waipu Cove and Langs Beach, Black Sheep Farm is delighted to announce their next house concert, a musical comedy featuring Helen Moulder, who last year brought us ‘Gloria’s Handbag’.
In ‘Cynthia Fortitude’s Farewell - Her Second’, Helen is accompanied by Timothy Bridgewater on piano. The plot sees the celebrated and legendary diva, Cynthia Fortitude, commissioned to write an opera for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Sponsored by a well-known chocolate company, Miss Fortitude is combining the writing of the opera, ‘Balls’, with a concert to farewell her adoring public. Her usual accompanist cannot be there but she asks a famous New Zealand tenor to sing with her and plans an attempt on the speed record for singing an aria from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. The tenor does not turn up and her stand-in accompanist, Dr Gottlieb Von Oberstock Winkle Dorf causes various disruptions. After a series of musical mishaps and misunderstandings, during which the pianist stages a rebellion, the concert nearly descends into chaos. Music is by Gounod, Mozart, Verdi, Humperdinck, Elgar, Puccini, Schubert and Miss Fortitude herself, and musical arrangements by Michael Vinten. Come along and be entertained in a personal, comfortable setting for this wonderful and unique theatre experience. Tickets are limited for this private showing so early booking is essential. n ‘Cynthia Fortitude’s Farewell - Her Second’, Saturday & Sunday, November 12 & 13, 5.30pm, Country Homestead at Black Sheep Farm, 1034 Cove Rd, Waipu Cove. Tickets $45 adults. Concert and light refreshments afterwards. Bookings essential, no door sales. |
