Choir to share love of music with community

Mangawhai Choir 2015-214The Mangawhai World Choir is again set to trill-and-thrill locals with their one-off recital of international music at the Mangawhai Museum on Monday December 14.

The group is under the tutelage of choir director and vocal coach Bert van Dijk.

Having worked and performed around the world as a singer, conductor and theatre director, Mangawhai is indeed privileged that Bert has found his home here.

Bert launched the Mangawhai World Choir in 2013 to share his love of music with the community, and recently featured on the TV One documentary series This Town.

Choristers are spread far and wide across the Kaipara and comprise men and women of any and all ages with a love of music and an enthusiastic willingness to try something new

“Singing will put more zip in your step, you’ll make new friends, increase your intelligence and your sense of humour,” says Bert.

The stimulating repertoire, in true world fashion, has wide appeal and is delivered acappella in English, Maori, Croation, Japanese, Czech, French, Greek and Samoan.

This recital is an exhilarating experience for singers and audience alike and one you won’t want to miss. Bring family and friends for fellowship and nibbles.
