Is a manicure or pedicure a health benefit?

 

Do you think of manicures and pedicures as just an occasional way of pampering yourself? Regular manicures and pedicures actually provide great benefits for your overall health and wellbeing. They also help keep hands looking young.

Many clinics have a variety of manicures and pedicures you can choose from. A splash of colour with a shape and paint is a nice pick-me-up, whereas a spa pedicure could include callous peels to dissolve dry dead skin and paraffin wax treatments to rehydrate and nourish dry skin.

One of the main benefits of either a manicure or pedicure is an increase in blood circulation from the massage, therefore helping the mobility of your joints. They also improve the health of your nails by removing the dead skin cells from the nail plate as this will encourage new cell growth, leaving your nails stronger and healthier.

A good manicure or pedicure is a great way to de-stress – there is nothing nicer than a foot massage to relax you. Also once you leave the clinic you have such pretty nails to remind you that you have taken the time out for you!

With regular manicures and pedicures your nails and skin become soft and nourished. If you have never had a manicure or pedicure before, give it a go. Talk to your local clinic to find out the best one for you.

Manicures and pedicures can be with longer lasting gel nail polish or standard polish – the gel helps your nails to grow and doesn’t chip, and it is harder to remove so your manicurist will need to show you how to remove it.

Make sure to have your manicure or pedicure done with a clinic that is part of the beauty therapy association so that you know proper hygiene standards are followed. Manicures and pedicures are a great health benefit and also a lot of fun.
