Young performing artists to show off talentYoung artists will be showing off their talents in Waipu's Coronation Hall next week in the third annual Spring Symphony Youth Variety Show.
Top of the bill is Auckland's Sinfonietta orchestra – 18 musicians aged 8 to 13 years playing themes from the Lord of the Rings and collaborating with Waipu's Circool Circus to present Harry Potter. The magnificent Waipu Dance Trio – Jade Taiaroa, Rowan McInnes and Ruby Stewart – will be performing their competition solos ahead of the National Dance Awards next month. The audience will be taken back to the dawn of civilisation when Whangarei drama academy Making a Scene will synchronise for a Choral Verse, speaking as one voice, an ancient Greek theatre technique. Bringing it home they will recite poems by James K. Baxter and Janet Frame before finishing with a Monty Python poem. Waipu Primary School's Kapa Haka roopu will enchant the audience with some sweet waiatas while not-so-sweet 10-year-old Stanley Dawson aka Summerly Ice will be rapping about growing up in Bream Bay. The Art n' Tartan masks are guaranteed to scare the audience while the show will be linked together by MC and all-round entertainer Logan Dobson. Circool Circus and Sinfonietta created the Spring Symphony Youth Variety Show to give young performing artists an opportunity to show their talents and build self-esteem. It promises to be a wonderful celebration of youthful talent. Bring the whole family, encourage their creativity and have some fun. Spring Symphony 2019 Youth Variety Show, Coronation Hall, Waipu. September 14 at 4pm. Doors open 3.30pm. Koha at entry. |
