For so long recognised as a haven predominantly for senior citizens, the Community Centre in Fagan Place is home to a wide variety of other activities including art groups, bowls, bridge, and a fitness class.
Now committee member and spokesperson Sharyn McLean says the Centre is available for hire for additional community activity and while there are a number of similar venues available for hire, the growing community is leading towards a greater demand for casual space with suitable facilities.
The Centre comes fully serviced with furniture and dining facilities thanks to a grant from the Opportunity Factory, heat pump, free book exchange library, and fully operational kitchen able to cater for all age groups and celebrations, and recently remodelled gardens courtesy of the Mangawhai Memo.
The Centre also has something of an historical past with many longstanding members, some of whom were involved in Mangawhai’s Big Dig in 1991 and even one who has achieved a New Zealand Citizenship Award. Whether it be short term, long-term or a one-off celebration the Mangawhai Community Centre may be just the venue for your needs.
