Chopper appeal breaks records
As of last week the Northland rescue helicopter appeal had amassed a total of $382,995 since October 1, 2018.
The Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) reports the service often attended more than five callouts a day with eight flights on one particular day during 2018. The chopper flew a total of 984 missions in 2018 compared to 901 in2017. Flight hours were also up from 1198 in 2017 to 1407 in 2018.
While we applaud the job our paramedics do on the ground, the value of this airborne ambulance service is without peer in attending accidents and saving lives throughout Northland and the NEST thanks Northland sincerely for its continued support.
