At closure the Auckland club had funds remaining and the money was directed by each of the members to an affiliated bowling club of their choice and thanks to Mr Ryan Maungaturoto was selected. Local tournament manager Ron McCallum had known Tom and Pam Ryan since they had resided in the South Island in the 50s and in subsequent years through business, politics and bowls and in constant contact from Whangarei to Auckland. “We are extremely fortunate that he was a member of Mission Bay and recently the couple became members of the Maungaturoto club,” says McCallum. “On behalf of all Maungaturoto members I sincerely thank Tom and the Mission Bay club for considering a country club and we will forever appreciate their generosity.” Maungaturoto Bowling club has two top class artificial greens and excellent facilities and invite anyone interested to join.
