Respite care facility essentialRespite care is a service that provides caregivers and whanau with a temporary rest while the person in their care continues to be looked after in a safe environment. If you are the full-time, unpaid carer for a loved one, then respite services may be available for you. The team at Maungaturoto’s Riverview Resthome and Village offer rest home level respite care for families needing a break, or the cared-for needing a break from their carer. Although they are a rest home there are no age restrictions for whom care is provided. The friendly atmosphere in the rest home acts as a home away from home with staff on duty 24/7. Senior staff are also on call along with the nurse manager. Meanwhile, fundraising for stage one of the new dementia unit is over $6500 thanks to a Queens Birthday bash at the Country Club and two day garage sale. so far are in excess of $6500, with more to come.
