Artntartan PostponedWaipu Museum’s Art n Tartan Awards organising committee is postponing this year’s 10th anniversary event. Event producer Claire Drake, and 2020 director Debi Walters Brown, say with the Art n Tartan Wearable Art Awards attracting an audience of 1500 people over three performances, Government bans on all indoor events with over 100 people need to be postponed or cancelled. “We have had to postpone our iconic event until it is again safe to invite people to attend,” says Claire Drake. “We are very mindful of the many designers, artists and models who are preparing to enter the competition this year. We know that they look forward to the excitement of the shows and we felt it was very important that we advise them of the postponement as early as possible.” The organising committee say they will continue to monitor the situation and will be in contact with all designers, artists and sponsors in the very near future. “We simply do not know how the Covid-19 pandemic will play out, but we will be holding the 10th anniversary event as soon as it is possible to do so, and in the meantime we will be keeping in touch with all our stakeholders,” says Ms Drake. “As soon as it is once again safe to hold events, we will announce the new dates. We hope everyone who was planning to participate in or attend Art n Tartan in 2020 will join us again as soon as conditions permit.” In the meantime, keep an eye on the event’s Facebook page as organisers plan to hold a few fun events in the spirit of the competition. |
