Crowds roll in for museum Open Day15 Oct, 2022
The Kauri Heritage Festival on Saturday October 15 was an outstanding success say organisers. Marking 60 years since the founding of the Kauri Museum at Matakohe, large crowds attended the day, and at lunchtime there were over 1200 people in and around the museum. “From around 11.30am until 1pm we were very full,” said museum director Barbara Hilden. “It was really satisfying to see so many locals and visitors enjoying the hard work of the staff, volunteers and exhibitors, and coming together to celebrate the museum's 60th birthday.” The open day was supported by sponsors, including Fonterra, and from many people in the area. “It was lovely to welcome back to the museum many supporters who have not been able to visit for a while, and to see new faces,” added Ms Hilden. “Our particular thanks to the Friends Committee for again supplying all-day tea, coffee and food for our stallholders, volunteers and staff.” PHOTO/KAURI MUSEUM |
