Full Noise goes full steam ahead

Full Noise 1The Full Noise Auto Restorations workshop has built a strong reputation in Bream Bay over the years thanks to Louie Berkers and his passion for cars and dedication in owning and restoring all manner of vintage and classic models.

Continuing that passion, last month Aaron and Kirsty Hunt took ownership of the big black workshop on Marsden City estate on the One Tree Point highway.

A product of Mangawhai, Aaron pursued a panelbeating apprenticeship in Auckland after leaving school, spending 11 years in the one job. With his father being a mechanic he inevitably picked up valuable experience and knowledge in general vehicle maintenance. He also tried a bit of rallying in a typical ‘young guy’s’ car, a Mk 2 Escort.

“It was good fun but too expensive for a young guy on an apprenticeship and without a lot of backing,” says Aaron.

Full Noise paint-852Realising how difficult it was going to be establishing a business in Auckland the couple moved back to Mangawhai where Aaron commuted to Auckland for a time, and then to Warkworth, but the opportunity to be in business locally came out of the blue and was too good to turn down even though it came a lot earlier than anticipated.

At Full Noise it is business as usual. Aaron is able to micro-manage the whole vehicle restoration process from bare bones right through to warrant and rego status if required. Otherwise, a re-chrome, re-paint, re-upholster or valet is just part of the service.
“I have confidence in my team and our workmanship carries our own warranty,”he says.

There are a number of sayings that relate to a man and his car, some to the slight denegration of the women in their lives but there are also a number of women who are converts to cars, knowledgeable of what’s under the bonnet and know the pleasure of owning and driving a classic car.

Though the vintage models may hold pride of place in business terms, they still offer service to the family motorist. Full Noise can attend to insurance jobs for any company or just general maintenance on your family car. With Aaron in the workshop and Kirsty in the office, customers are dealing direct with the business owners with a vested interest in doing a good job.

“After two months we’re finding our feet now,” the couple agree. They are “in this for the long haul”, have a reputation to protect and invite petrolheads with a pending car project to drop in and discuss their requirements.

With a young family, the opportunity to be in business locally was too good to pass up by Aaron and Kirsty Hunt.

The Full Noise workshop offers everything from general maintenance to full ground up restoration.
