From Glass to Revitaglass
REVITAGLASS: Inspired by Northland scenery.
Works of art are visualised, conceptualised and then transforned into reality. Revitaglass is a small Bream Bay company with a country-wide profile making bowls, cheeseboards, coasters and ornamental glasswork. It is a fascinating and exacting process but the range of colours and designs result in products that may be used as kitchenware or as decorative coffee table pieces. They are especially suitable as different and unique Christmas gifts with hues and colours that catch your eye and may enhance a room or special piece of furniture. “Taking a sheet of clear glass and turning it into a beautiful plate, bowl or coaster is quite simply, a work of art,” says company principal Kevin Lansdowne. “The process is quite long and involved and does require skill, patience and creativity!” Koru, fern and well-loved kiwi designs are very popular but there is almost no end to the variety of patterns and colours which can be created. The painted design is infused into the glass through kiln baking at extremely high pressures. From the factory in Kepa Rd, Ruakaka, Revitaglass products are shipped to souvenir and gift stores throughout the country plus selected retailers in Australia and the USA. Check out their website www.revitaglass.co.nz which also features a video presentation by one of the world's leading art glass manufacturers. Great gift ideas on sale Saturday November 24, 9-3pm. |
