Matakohe’s Kauri Museum has been awarded “Favourite North Island Attraction” at the annual Grand Pacific Tours Awards announced recently in Melbourne. Grand Pacific Tours are a major New Zealand luxury coach holiday specialist operator based in Australia who sends thousands of Australian’s to New Zealand and Northland each year. Passengers complete a satisfaction survey at the end of each tour and rate their experience at all hotels and attractions throughout New Zealand. Northland tourism businesses won five out of nine major category awards. “This outstanding result is fantastic for the Northland region as a major tourist destination and reflects the tremendous efforts and investment of these companies to make their products and experiences first class,” said Brian Roberts, Destination Northland General Manager. The award shows the museum is delivering a high quality experience and service, says proud curator Bet Nelley, who paid tribute to staff and volunteers. The museum also won the award in 2007-08. |
