Dining delights at SandbarLOCAL FLAVOUR: Pictured at Sandbar & Grill, Glen (kitchen), Dan (butcher), Gavin (front of house), Andrew and Mark (hosts). A small but select group of diners recently sampled some tempting and tasty dishes at Sandbar & Grill in Wood St. In a good combination of local food and beverage the establishment set out a three course menu accompanied by a combination of wines from local boutique Millars Vineyard. Despite Ross and Jenny-May Millar running several business enterprises, they are still able to devote enough time to produce wines that have gained favourable acclaim both locally and in competition. Meat for the main course was supplied by Daniel Klink of Mangawhai Meat Shop at the Village. Says Andrew Rennie of Sandbar: “We’re trying to promote the combination of good food and wine and the fact that there is an entire local flavour to the meal is an added attraction that our patrons appreciate, and we’re aiming for quality rather than quantity in both food and ambiance.” |
