Tara Iti presents $100k to 23 local organisations and clubs

20181102 154429-596-792An amazing $100,000 was raised at Tara Iti Golf Club’s second annual Spirit of Mangawhai Charity Golf Tournament, held on November 2.

Organisers are praising all the golfers and non-golfers alike who supported the event by participating, sponsoring and giving donations.

“We are truly grateful for the organisations and also to our membership whose generous contributions helped break the record on last year,” said Tara Iti general manager Matt Guzik. “It is an honour to provide funds to our local organisations and charities whose work makes a positive difference in the lives of our local community.”

Tara Iti Golf Club currently employs 75-100 local people and in addition to this, a largely local caddie corps. Nearly all of them were deployed on the day as the Club opened itself up to visiting players, in the spirit of world-class golf and a great cause.

The 18-hole Two Best Ball Tournament with mobile nibbling included snacks and beverages served from an innovative collection of vintage vehicles including a 1927 Austin ice cream van, rickshaw bicycle and converted Airstream.

Further socalising and revelry were had throughout the award ceremony and cheque-presentation where a post tournament lunch of gourmet pizzas were served from the club’s traveling wood burning pizza oven.

"We were so fortunate to have the perfect link style conditions on the day and clear blue skies certainly hightlighted our world class course," Guzik said. “It is a great feeling to host our neighbours, friends, vendors and members together to support our local charities and organisations for their tremendous work.”

Guzik says Tara Iti Golf Club would like to continue to contribute postively to the local community and the Spirit of Mangawhai Charity Golf Tournament is the perfect platform for the club to be able to do so. The Club would also like to welcome anyone who is interested in participating or wishing to contribute to next year’s tournament to approach the club directly.
