Gallery extension big project for 2019![]() The summer season at the gallery has begun with the eagerly awaited Christmas exhibition which showcases art by over 40 artists. The exhibition has a special buzz with all the art priced to be affordable to take home for Christmas. Hot on the heels of the Christmas exhibition, the shiny summer vibe continues with ‘In the Spirit of Summer’ by Elena Nikolaeva and Jeanette Vickers. A mix of two and three dimensional work and wonderful colours, the work by these two artists is very popular. Elena's funky creatures intrigue and are a touch of fun. Jeanette is showing her bright zany summer garden photographs. It has been a year of achievement and success for Mangawhai Artists in 2018. Nineteen exhibitions and many workshops. Creative achievements were matched by success in three categories at the Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards. In 2019 the group will continue with their fortnightly change of stunning, high standard and wow-factor exhibitions as well as raising funds for an extension to the gallery – a year round artists workplace, studio, and a much needed bathroom. More about fundraising and upcoming exhibits in the New Year. Keep an eye out for the latest news and artist profiles online. Mangawhai Artists Gallery, 45 Moir St, Mangawhai Village. Open 7 days 10am – 3pm. Free entry. Online mangawhaiartists.co.nz Elena Nikolaeva (left) and Jeanette Vickers have a joint exhibition after Christmas - ‘In the Spirit of Summer’. |
