A life well lived[OBITUARY]
Lynn Middleton passed away suddenly on November 13. She was a passionate artist whose art matured in the nurturing context of Mangawhai. Born in England, she came to New Zealand on a ship at the age of three and while her career took her to Wellington and London, she returned to New Zealand and settled in Mangawhai. She loved her Mangawhai home, cat, garden and community. “Lynn will be remembered as a compassionate, energised and positive force in Mangawhai Artists and the wider community,” says Mary-Anne Boyd from Mangawhai Artists Inc. “She was inclusive, creative and a ‘can do’ person with a big heart. “She was larger than life, always stepped up, was warm, well organised, efficient, a no-nonsense communicator and able to see the wood for the trees. Lynn was a vibrant, talented woman who was loved and respected and will be greatly missed.” Her art classes have inspired others and she was always open to new ideas. In October, she won the print media award at the 2019 Kaipara Art Awards. “We will all miss her energy, commitment and friendship,” says Friends of Mangawhai Artists coordinator Belinda Vernon. “She was a truly irreplaceable member of Mangawhai Artists and she’ll be remembered for her huge contribution to the Mangawhai community.” Rest in peace Lynn. |
