Festive soul the heart of the FactoryBy Julia Wade
With only seven sleeps to go before the big day, the Christmas spirit of friendship, goodwill and a whole lot of fun, is alive and flourishing at Mangawhai Heads new retail store. Mangawhai Opportunity Factory has proven to be not just a place where shoppers can grab a bargain, says Mangawhai Community Opportunity Shop Trust, (MCOST) volunteer and trustee, Ken Rayward. “The Factory has become much more than just a shop,” he says. “Volunteers enjoy a relaxed and fun filled environment mixing with other like-minded Mangawhai locals, both as volunteers or bargain hunters... it is a treasured involvement.” Feedback from the nearly 50 volunteers shows the Factory provides a chance to be part of a committed and enthusiastic team while enjoying a stimulating environment. Recent comments from volunteers include having the satisfaction of making a "real contribution to the community", "feeling more involved with others", "loving meeting other locals" and "having an awesome time". Rayward says a ‘Christmas Gratitude tree’ has been assembled in the shop, with individual decorations featuring the names of all volunteers and local service providers, to acknowledge their dedication, camaraderie and service. “The Trustees and management of the Mangawhai Opportunity Factory, wish to warmly thank the wonderful team of volunteers, without them the store could not work,” Rayward says. “The Factory also wishes to send it's appreciation to the Mangawhai community for its extraordinary support via shopping patronage and product donations, quickly making The Factory a vibrant heart in the Heads. A big Merry Christmas to everyone from us here at The Factory.” The Factory is still seeking extra volunteers, if you are interested please call 09 431 3098.
