'Monday Art Group' prepare for holiday weekend exhibition and sale16 Jan, 2023
Mangawhai’s Monday Art Group are opening their doors to another fun and popular Northland/Auckland Anniversary Weekend exhibition on Friday January 27 and Saturday January 28. The multi-artist display is a culmination of another 12 months of artistic endeavour and effort, and it’s all for sale. The group meet weekly at the Mangawhai Community Hall and are currently coordinated by Linda Foster and Jean Fountain, two well-known local artists. Tuition and advice are offered to those that ask, occasionally an outing is planned, encouragement is huge and the general vibe is welcoming and friendly. “It’s just a great environment for new and more proficient artists,” enthuses Linda Foster. “This year approximately 100 works will be on show at the exhibition in the Community Hall, Fagan Place, behind the Wood Street shops.” Being a cash and carry exhibition, buyers are able to take their chosen art away at the time of purchase. There will be something to suit everyone with mixed media, oil, fabric art, charcoal, sketches and watercolours all on display. A regular feature of this exhibition is the People’s Choice. Members have already voted from a variety of photographs to find a favourite. This chosen photograph is then used as inspiration for a creation. These are all displayed and visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite. Look out for the display. Make the exhibition and sale a priority during the long weekend. You’ll be impressed with the variety and value for money.
