New gardens feature of this year’s ramble

Josie-Gritten-Photography-Mwi-Garden-Ramble-2016-1000px DSC2362-932The Mangawhai Garden Ramble, proudly presented by the Mangawhai Kindergarten and Plunket, returns for its 15th year thanks to the support of Palmers Planet.

The event will flower again on the weekend of November 17 & 18 with around 20 unique gardens to tour, half of those new entrants to the tour. Gardens on offer range from compact to expansive, some established and some in progress.

Experienced ramblers will enjoy seeing some gardens that have not been exhibited for several years but have transformed over time. “Every year the Mangawhai Garden Ramble continues to flourish,” says kindergarten representative Joanna Rodgers.

“We are really pleased and grateful to see new gardens added every year and are looking forward to welcoming lots of new and old faces for a great family day out.”

The Mangawhai Garden Ramble is a great family day out with plenty of children’s activities planned as well as local refreshments to purchase along the way, including barista coffee. For those that wish to purchase plants and cuttings as they ramble, many garden owners will have plants and garden art available to purchase.

Some of the plants available to purchase have even been cultivated by green fingered Kindergarten children.  The Mangawhai Garden Ramble is an important community fundraiser for both the local Plunket and Kindergarten groups, with all profits going to these two extremely important grassroots organisations.

The event, run by a team of local volunteers and supported by many local businesses, is a great way to support the community and explore the area. n Tickets are on sale now and can be found in local outlets and regular vendors further afield. Early bird prices will apply for the first few weeks.
