Fun walks for all this Mangawhai Walking Weekend

Tanekaha Walk-253Mangawhai Walking Weekend, March 15-18, is a fun weekend of walking, people and adventure with a dash of dancing on Saturday afternoon – a chance to do something new and different with all walks under the guidance of knowledgeable local guides.

Start the Walking Weekend on the fabulous Troubadour Trail on Friday afternoon – 2.30, 3.00 and 3.30pm – leaving from the main boat ramp on Alamar Crescent, an absolutely delightful ramble around the estuary with entertainment in several locations. Enjoy beautiful cliff top views and entertainment. This year will be a performance from Rodney College. Only $10pp and all school aged children are free; grab your neighbours, aunties and nanas and take them too.

There are walks galore for all levels of fitness and interests, the glorious King Road bush and waterfall tracks, the cliff tops and estuary walks and outstanding Te Arai and Tomatara. How about learning to surf? Our local surf guru has put together a lesson just for the Walking Weekend. If you have always wanted to give it a go, here is your moment. Eco paddle boarding and kayaking on the estuary includes a fascinating walking tour of the sand spit.

The variety is endless: We love our doggies in Mangawhai and they have their own ‘doggie’ walk; See some of Mangawhai’s most amazing gardens; Learn the secrets of the Blokes Shed; What about four beaches and an ice cream? Some great ‘almost no walking’ walks too.
For the dead keen crazy trampers, Thursday’s Long Tramp is four walks in one!

Saturday afternoon’s Food & Wine Festival will have you dancing till the sun goes down. Enjoy a delicious selection of food trucks, award winning local wines, beers and the talented Motown Band – the best afternoon in town. Bring some chairs and settle in the shade of the Olive Grove.

Come and support this iconic Mangawhai event, with all proceeds gifted back into the community and the Mangawhai Tracks Trust.

All walks have limited numbers and bookings are essential. Pick up your tickets for the Troubadour Trail and Food & Wine Festival at Bammas and Books & Gifts. All other bookings online mangawhaiwalking.co.nz or call Dorothy 09 431 5590. Come walk with us!
